The cost of two basketball rims with nets is $174, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.
Swift school is almost 100 years old. As with most Chicago Public Schools repairs take time. I have sports equipment on the walls or hanging from the ceiling that date back to the early 1900's. Most of these items are not used for safety reasons. One piece of equipment that is used are the basketball rims. The rims were first installed when the school was built. Leather or chain nets where used. The rims were not made for nylon or twine nets because there are no hooks on the rims to attach the net. The only way to attach a net to the rim is by tape, wire or string, all of which do very little to keep a net on the rim. This takes constant maintenance or the nets come down or kids can't resist pulling on them. Sportime makes The Only Goal. The rim is solid steel with a thick steel back plate. The back plate is hole-patterned to fit every pattern known. The net-lock system secures the net on the rim. Our basketball team and P.E. classes thank you for considering this proposal.
