Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I coach 600 kids daily for physical education. In our school, we serve Pre-K through fifth grade students in a low socioeconomic area. Our school is a Title I school, and our entire school population is eligible to participate in the free lunch and breakfast program.
My students are full of life and a lot of energy.
They love to be outside and are eager to learn new sports. Currently, we are learning to play a variety of sports and my students are learning that there is a sport for everyone to promote an active healthy lifestyle. My students have a strong desire to learn to play all these different sports, but they lack the equipment and knowledge to do so.
My Project
I am requesting 8 brand new basketballs for my students to use daily during PE class and during recess time. Since we are no longer able to share equipment during PE class, we need enough basketballs so that every student will be able to participate during class. We can sanitize the basketballs in between each class.
These basketballs will be used to teach a variety of basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting.
During recess, the students can come check out a basketball so they can also practice during their socially distanced recess.
