This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

5th Grade Math class is full of motivated students who are in need of the right tools to perform at their best and maximize their learning experience. Most of my students come from a low economic home where parents work hard to provide them the basic needs. Most of my students have never been successful in understanding class content, coming to my math classroom with gaps that started back in kinder.

In my classroom, we do not teach 5th grade, but we start by reteaching second, third and any other grade level concepts needed for my students to achieve a determined math goal.

They are motivated and eager to start understanding what they never understood before, which turns into a classroom that becomes a unique life experience for them.

My Project

Students will be impacted by utilizing proper headphones during computer time. Also, they will utilize card sorts created with cardstock to understand mathematical concepts and then organize and store the same in the plastic containers. Furthermore, students will utilize the colorful pens to take fun notes at the same time they learn new math topics. Dry erase boards, markers and mini erasers will help practice learned concepts and take them to a new level practicing in a fun and game-like environment. Post-it easel pads will be utilized to create amazing and captivating anchor charts to display in the classroom where students will see reflected what they have been learning to reinforce concepts and ideas. Notebook paper will be utilized to show students' work while solving mathematical problems on a daily basis.
