Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Honestly, my 5th graders are amazing. I have two classes of amazing children with bold personalities and needs. They come to school not only to get their education and improve their reading, but also to know that they are cared for and someone sees the best in them.
These children deserve the best educational experience possible.
In order to have that, many need a refresh in supplies and materials to make reading better. There is something special about markers and colored paper for ten year olds.
My Project
Imagine kids engaged in reading and writing. It seems simple, but allowing the kids to write with Crayola markers becomes a magical learning experience as they underline, list, and write. By adding colored copy paper, students can have color coded assignments to keep organized. Colored paper also helps when differentiating assignments based on reading lexile levels. Students can grab the paper that corresponds with their reading group color and they are good to go. They can start their assignments with their small groups without having to compare papers with a peer outside their group. With these simple supplies, reading engagement and writing becomes enjoyable in my classroom.
