We are a Title I school where 85% of our population is on free and reduced lunch programs. Our students are curious, inquisitive and avid readers and explorers, when the resources are available. They want to connect and discover through collaborative group discussions.
They love to explore worlds outside of their own, since their real world is limited and not always reliable.
Their love of learning is contagious even when the world outside of school is in turmoil. Our students have the desire to grow and learn academically, however they do not always have the means. They have a vision for learning environments where their economic status is not apparent and everyone has equal opportunities.
My Project
During this time of the year, my students go through the basic classroom supplies and most can not be easily replenished. They have used all of their journals, or supply of index cards and have lost or broken most of our pencils.
These basic school supplies should help us get through the rest of the year with out the worry of replenishment.
We won't have to worry about writing small or making sure we every page in the journals.
They really want to be able to have everything they need to get through the rest of the school year. These supplies will help us get there.
