My school is located in an urban area of Wisconsin and has a very diverse population of students. Thirty percent of my students are English language learners and fifteen percent receive special education services. Forty percent of the students at my school are economically disadvantaged.
My students are groups of highly motivated students who love engaging and creative ways to show their learning.
I feel that it is my job to make sure that my students have experiences that are positive and that create opportunities for community building, so that my students have a strong sense of ownership over their own learning as well as that of their classmates and have a sense of belonging to the school community.
My Project
The materials your donations will buy will give my students the basic supplies they need to be successful in school! In my math classroom, we do a lot of work with interactive notebooks, so the notebooks, pencils and erasers, and colored paper will give students who would not otherwise have those supplies the ability to participate in discussion and organize their thoughts.
The students in my classroom also do a lot of work on whiteboards to show their thinking and add to whole-class discussions!
The whiteboard markers and velcro will make that more effective!
The stools and clipboards will give my students the opportunity work in the classroom without being confined to their tables.
