Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a mild/moderate Special Day Class filled with 15 amazing little kindergartners, first graders, and second graders. Their disabilities include Autism, speech/language disabilities and learning disabilities.

My students are little teachers who teach us all to be better human beings.They are enthusiastic, polite, caring, and extremely energetic.

They each have their own different personalities, and each is special in their own way. However, because of the differing disabilities, we have our hands full!

We are a Title I school, and we serve a lot of low-income families so our resources are limited. We are always looking to better improve ourselves and to provide as many resources as we can for our students. Our students are being prepared to look forward to bright futures, and I hope that I can be a stepping stone along their path to success.

My Project

In our class, Expo markers are an everyday writing utensil that we use. We use them to learn how to write, stay on the line, and more importantly to show what we have learned. Along with using markers, we also need special pencils and crayons so that my students can learn how to correctly grasp a pencil, and sometimes they need extra guidance which the triangular shape will do. My students are learning to strengthen their fine motor skills, and they have come such a long way that any will help will be greatly appreciated!

Along with basic writing utensils, my students also need snacks to keep their brain and bodies fed so that they are able to focus on their learning.

There are times where my students forget to bring snacks or they are just hungry and when a student is hungry it is hard for them to concentrate and retain information. Goldfish crackers and fruit snacks will help keep their tummies full and their brains learning!

Being in a classroom with 15 students means there are many germs floating around, and the cleaning supplies will help us keep our classrooms clean. The tissues and hand sanitizers will teach our students to keep themselves clean, so we stay at our healthiest and not miss school.
