My Physical, Life, Earth, and Environmental Science classroom is a place of challenge, exploration, and discovery. Scholars spend two years with me learning important science inquiry, analyzation, and STEM skills they will need as they move forward to high school and college.
The scholars are seventh and eighth graders in a small bayou town.
They are excited to explore the world around them through the lens of a scientist. Their capacity for critical thinking is expanded greatly through experimentation, questioning, and observation. They are always willing to ask the difficult questions and try something new.
The use of hands-on labs and investigations are essential parts of learning in my classroom. Using the 5E (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) model in science, scholars are first Engaged in a new concept through demonstrations and activities. Then they Explore the concept through trials, experiments, stations, and labs. The hotplates, pipettes, safety glasses, and beakers would allow them to engage, explore, and elaborate in a safer, are the most basic of tools needed for them to be able to explore in a more stable, safer, more effective, more efficient manner. Because our scholars are currently measuring, experimenting, and conducting lab activities with inadequate supplies, spills, irregular measurements, and uneven heating are just a few of the problems that arise. By giving them the proper tools they need, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase scholar safety and scientific accuracy, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the scientific inquiry, not worry over safety concerns or adaptive, inaccurate procedures and measurements. Plus you will help create a more laboratory-like environment, which just screams SCIENCE! Can you say dissection? Chemical reactions? Exploration?
