Basics Are Needed: Pencils and Highlighters

My Students

I teach a phenomenal fifth grade class at a TK-5 school in Southern California. The school I work at has won California Distinguished School in 2020 and is a finalist for the National Center for Urban School Transformation Award. Our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds but they always make the most of what we have. Our school population is largely Hispanic with a very large population of English Language Learners.

Every student enrolled at our school receives free breakfast and lunch daily.

I am constantly amazed by all the challenges presented to these students each day. They enter the classroom each day ready and willing to learn! I am proud to be their teacher.

My Project

For this project I am requesting some basic school supplies such as pre-sharpened pencils and highlighters.

As the school year goes on, many basic classroom supplies are needed to be replenished.

Schools work on such a limited budget that these supplies are hard to get replenished. Highlighters are used daily as we work to build our math journal we glue in notes and highlight to help us. Pencils get sharpened down quickly and need replenished often...no more tiny pencils without erasers, please! Thank you for considering a donation to my classroom.
