Our school is a special one. Diversity would be the one word to describe what I love the most about it. Our diversity comes from our cultures, race, languages, backgrounds, socio-economic levels, and the community around us. What some would say so much diversity would separate us, it is the one thing that unites us all. Staff, students and families value the differences we have and celebrates those differences.
Our community is a close knit one that works together for the common good of our kids.
As we work together to start the school year in a distance learning model, our thoughts are first and foremost on the students. I am looking forward to inviting others into this special community to support these amazing kids.
My Project
Many of my students are not able to provide the basic school supplies in a normal year. We often rely on local agencies to donate the supplies we use in the classroom. As a result of the pandemic of 2020, those agencies are not available to provide as before.
My students need the most basic of supplies to be able to work from home.
I won't be available to replace the lost pencil, or allow them to sharpen their pencil to continue working. I will be using the items from this project to create a box for each student filled with the things they will need to complete assignments from home and even more importantly keep things organized in different subject areas. Some things will need to be laminated for repeated use. Organization will be difficult learning from home, but these items will help them keep them all together and easy to access.
