My students need basic supplies and supplies that make them more engaged. At this point I have 10 pencils left. We are hoping to use large and small sticky notes to make learning fun.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in Oklahoma City where 100% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our district has faced enormous budget cuts this school year, after we were already working on a limited budget. We are all going to be working our hardest to make things work in the best interest of our kiddos and not break our personal bank. Our previous supply budget for our kids was 25 dollars per student, it was cut to 15 dollars per student.
As always, we do what we can with what we have, but our kiddos deserve more than a bare bones education.
Our school supply budget doesn't allow for the things that are beneficial to a successful classroom. It only allows for the bare minimum, and it's almost impossible to create a challenging and exciting learning environment with the bare minimum. These students are getting less than they deserve in so many aspects of their lives, it is critical that the classroom is a place where they are free to explore and learn in comfort with joyful hearts, and eager minds.
My Project
My students are short on the basics currently. We are especially short on pencils. I have a box of ten pencils left for the rest of the year. We are really focusing on new and exciting things that help us to engage in our learning. Large (chart paper) and small sticky notes will create a more meaningful learning experience. These tools allow students to do things like answer questions anonymously, ask questions anonymously, learn to take notes, create exciting presentations over specific topics, and mark up texts to detail what is important.
My students would greatly benefit from these new tools, in order to motivate them to work hard in the classroom.
They love learning new things and appreciate when they can be expressive in doing so. I love doing projects where my students get to do presentations to the class, chart paper and markers makes that a really fun and simple activity to make happen.
