This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year, I have a homeroom filled with students ready and eager to learn. I have a great bunch of fifth grade students that are ready to go.
My focus is getting everyone organized and ready to learn every day when they walk into my classroom.
We have some challenges with supplies because of economic status, but we are going to forge on anyhow. We are Title I, but we aren't out of the game. With hard work and determination, we are going to be successful this year.
My Project
As the second school semester approaches, our school supplies are running low, especially pencils. I am amazed at how quickly my students go through pencils and, no, they do not eat them. They need a lot of pencils because they love to write and draw. We do daily writing activities. In addition, when they solve math word problems they explain in writing how they arrived at the answer. In order to keep the pencils sharpened and ready to use, we need a heavy duty pencil sharpener. My students also need plastic folders to keep their homework clean and organized. They also need glue sticks and color pencils to use with their interactive journals.
If students have the basic school materials readily available, their learning experience will be a productive one ensuring their academic success.
Hopefully, we can count on your support to bring these materials to our classroom.
