Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My English language learning students are the hardest working and academic driven students I have ever worked with. They possess a curiosity that deserves to be fostered in safe and academic environment. They live in a very rough urban area; however, they are at an age where they can be influenced to stay in academics and venture into the world.
I am a passionate believer that the minds of these unique students need to be cultivated to expand beyond the ordinary world.
My Project
These materials will continue to enhance the rigorous and engaging culture that the students and I strive to create. Our classroom is a place that students discover the meaning of "Work Hard, Play Hard." Our expectations are high, we aim for an 85% success rate on ALL assignments, exams, and projects. Because we work so hard, we have a teacher who has been one of the top 10 teachers in the district, two years in a row & students who have the highest grades in the school.
These basic supplies will help us spice up our interactive notebooks, which is our classroom key to success.
It is full of processing activities, creative stories and pictures, that help achieve the level of rigor and critical thinking that keeps us at number one.
These wonderful students are capable of wonderful things, when given the right materials. The materials will allow the students to venture into the academic world and show them education is the key to success! Despite being homeless and economically disadvantaged, the students are community teachers and leaders.
The students live in a very rough Houston urban area that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Many of the students are first floor apartment dwellers who were, and are still, displaced because of Hurricane Harvey.
