This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach high school science in an urban high school. Our school is small, and we have a very limited budget. The supplies we want are not always readily available for our classes and our projects. We are rationed only one ream of paper per month. Several of us teachers spend our own money, and buy boxes of paper at office supply stores.
I love to do projects, note sheets, study guides, and reviews with my students. I especially enjoy foldables which are study guides or graphic organizers the students create. My students love to make these, and they have to review the material more.
Without paper, I am not always able to do all of these great lessons. With some assignments, I simply make a class set and the students then have to do the work on their own sheet of paper to hand in.
Extra paper would be greatly appreciated in our class! With the paper, we could do many more foldables, graphic organizers, note sheets, study guides, and poster projects. Instead of having class sets, with the students writing everything out themselves, or hurriedly trying to write down every single word on the board, every student would have their own copy. Class could go smoother, and each student would have a complete set of notes over the material.
Thank you for your help and support of my classroom! Your donations will enhance my classes and my lesson plans as we will be able to do more foldables, posters, and projects. I appreciate your assistance in making science more enjoyable for my students!
