Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Special Education teacher at a low income\poverty area my students face some daily challenges. Our elementary school is located at Hermosa which is a latino community. I intend to make their learning experience a significant one by providing them with the tools they need. My students are also students with special needs. They come to school every day with new hopes on learning and they find a warming family of teacher's that have passion for what they do.
My Project
One area my students struggle the most is bringing their basic school supplies every day. Markers are used in class on daily basis since we do weekly interventions using dry erase white boards. My students use pencils every day and i have to provide them because they do not bring pencils from home. As their Special Education Teacher I have to keep track and evidence of their work and we do it using a notebook where all their class work is done. Also, what for some families its easy to get, for my students families might be hard as they come from low income families.
Providing my students with this basic school supplies will also provide with a better learning environment.
I am sure my students will appreciate coming to school knowing their basic supplies are being provided.
By being able to provide them with this, it will make their daily work easier and worry free being able to concentrate in what really matters, which is education.
