My students need basic school supplies -paper, pencils, and a pencil sharpener. They also need items like composition notebooks, library card pockets, and binder clips to create their interactive math notebooks.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are regular junior high kids. They talk a lot, they play hard, and they all have dreams of being successful. My students are smart and talented in many areas. They can rap, play instruments, and dance. A few of them can draw quite well and many of them are athletically inclined. They play football, baseball, soccer, and basketball. We're a sports loving community.
While they are good to great in so many areas, they always seem to be lacking when it comes to basic supplies for school.
My Project
I have been using the interactive math notebooks for two years. I am seeing an increase in the amount of studying being done by my students. I am also seeing an increase in the amount of information being retained. I believe that the interactive notebook has played an important part.
The requested supplies will enable my students to maintain their interacive notebooks.
The paper, pencils, and sharpener will be used daily during our math lessons. The binders and sheet protectors will save time by helping to keep the unit lesson worksheets and activities organized. The composition notebooks will actually be used for the interactive math notebooks.
