Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education resource room teacher at a middle school. I teach students with disabilities such as students with learning disabilities, students with autism, and students with health impairments such as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. Many of my students are reading below grade level. Because of that, I have to provide my own curriculum, as my students are below grade level and I would not want to teach them at a frustration level. This leads me to create this DonorsChoose.org request, as I need help providing all the basic supplies I need for the entire year.
Students, with or without disabilities, show up every day to learn.
All students have different needs and learn through different modes. We use a lot of different reading strategies throughout the school year and these basic supplies help us learn those strategies.
My Project
This project is all about much needed basic supplies we need in our Reading Resource Classroom. Without kind, generous donors, my students will not have all the basic supplies they need to successfully learn.
We are doing great things this year.
One thing we do a lot of is reading strategies. We make anchor charts about books we read. That is what we use Post-its for in the classroom. We also love colored paper for the different assignments we turn in throughout the year. Sharpies are used to document our reading progress on our Goal Wall. Of course, we can always use other basic supplies like pens, pencils, Clorox wipes, and hand sanitizer.
