This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Sixth grade students are transitioning from elementary to middle school, and it's no easy task for them. Learning new schedules, making new friends, and needing to be accepted among peers are a few adjustments they must make. Some are military children who have moved several times, but they persevere. Over half of the student population is from low income families, but this hasn't been used as an excuse for low performance academically nor for social misbehavior. My class population includes a variety of cultures, ethnic groups and backgrounds. The students range from gifted and talented to students with special needs. My students are helpful, caring and bring lots of joy to the classroom.
I love when my students persevere to understand a concept and help their peers who may be struggling.
They don't give up even when the concept is difficult to understand. They press in deeper to learn and they show joy in their success.
My Project
My project is to refuel our supplies for the third semester to the end of the school year. We still have half of the year of learning to accomplish. My extraordinary students are still working to achieve their goals of passing the End of Grade Test and preparing to enter 7th grade. But this is not the time to run out of needed supplies!
I don't want the students to be concerned about supplies or lack thereof, but to concentrate on learning new and interesting concepts.
We need pencils, sticky notes, dry rease pockets, a sharpener, and other basic supplies to finish up the year on a high note. We use our supplies wisely, but still we need to replenish what we have used up so we can continue on to the end. Please help me provide needed supplies to my students. Thank you.
