Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students and I are working hard to stay connected and continue our learning. Our school has 1 to 1 chromebooks for our older students, but our K-2 learners do not. It's been a struggle getting work out to them, that is accessible.
Another struggle is being able to have them complete activities, as most do not have the materials, or means of purchasing the necessary supplies.
Everyday tools; such as crayons, pencils, paper that most of us have in our homes; are not readily available in my students' homes.
My Project
These basic supplies will help my little learners while we are apart. The activities I want them to enjoy are limited because of their lack of supplies, and their inability to purchase them. If (and when!) my project is funded, I will be able to deliver these necessary supplies to each of my little learners- (of course with social distancing in mind). With the dry erase sleeves and makers, they will able to solve math problems, without using endless amounts of paper. With the crayons, scissors, and glue, we will be able to create fun projects together when we meet virtually. And let's not forget pencils, and sharpeners! I want them to have these readily available every time they are ready to tackle new learning!
That is why these basic supplies that most of take for granted, will make them so happy, and motivated to keep learning, even while we are apart.
It will bring our classroom closer to them, and give them some normalcy, at a time where their world's have been turned upside down.
They will be able to color, and cut, and create beautiful works of art, as well as have a way to complete assignments virtually
