This year, I will have the privilege of teaching English and reading to nearly 120 seventh and eighth-grade students and two sections of accelerated learning for fifth and sixth-grade students. Students of all ability levels are fully integrated into my seventh-grade English class.
Our small, rural school has struggled economically, which has a direct impact on the students I serve.
Despite this, the students in our community are hard-working and eager to learn.
The students in our school deserve the best resources to enhance their learning experiences. Middle schoolers are enjoyable to work with as they are going through a period of self-discovery and are able to engage in all aspects of their learning.
My Project
To make learning fun and engaging, we integrate creativity and work together as partners or in groups. We frequently use art materials to create responses to literature, such as "one pagers." We use Post-it notes in a variety of ways, such as exit tickets or to post responses onto chart paper.
I teach five sections of seventh-grade English and two sections of seventh-grade reading.
ALL students, regardless of ability, are integrated into my classroom throughout the day.
Students learn best when they are actively learning and sharing their responses. The materials listed in this project get used quickly and need to be supplied or replenished.
