This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 25 amazing first graders in a predominantly African-American, Title I, Inner-city Baltimore school. We have many wonderful programs at our school, including a recreation center and a Judy Center. My students are eager to learn and are very creative, resilient, and kind. Although my students come in ready to learn every day, they don't always have the materials necessary to complete all of our tasks for the day or the things that we need to keep our classroom clean and healthy. My students and I would be so grateful to receive new materials that they can use to help them prepare for second grade and beyond!
My Project
This project will allow my students to have basic classroom supplies such as pencils and crayons to complete typical classroom activities such as writing in our journals, drawing, and completing spelling tests! This project will also allow my students to have a treasure chest full of prizes that they can earn for good behavior and excellent effort in the classroom! The incentives will motivate my students to work as a community to make sure everyone is able to learn in a peaceful environment so that they can earn prizes at the end of each week. Also, I am requesting some storage materials to help with classroom organization!
