This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Basics, we can't get along without them. This is especially true in a classroom. Without the basic supplies, we can't accomplish our goals.

I teach in a very poor inner city school.

The students live in the nearby neighborhood. My first graders strive to be successful at their education. But various obstacles are in their way. These students live daily with poverty and violence. They qualify for free hot lunch at school. My first graders also get a packaged breakfast before instruction begins in the classroom. My students want to be make everyone proud of them. But, the obstacles of poverty keep getting in their way.

My Project

Having the basic supplies will have a huge positive impact on learning in my classroom. I will be able to engage students in the curriculum through the use of pencils, erasers and glue sticks. We can't do work without the basic supplies. The scissors and copy paper will be used to engage in students in projects related to the curricular topics we are working on. having these supplies readily available will be less stressful. There will be no worrying about running the store to purchase some basic supplies that we need on a daily basis.

Your donation to this project will have a tremendous positive impact on my classroom.

I have been lucky enough to receive funding for various other projects, and I can assure you my students are very appreciative for the gifts we receive. You CAN make the difference in my first graders lives.
