My students need construction paper, glue sticks, and non-fiction African-American books.

I teach at a wonderful school where students are in collaboration with teachers toward building a classroom community and a culture where leadership and higher learning are a focal point. The demographic of the students is African-American. Our students come from all over the city of Columbus.
It is important that our school is able to stay current with the trends in technology, basic supplies, and academic resources to promote the higher learning that we are achieving.
These students are willing and wanting to excel. Providing opportunities to experience academic learning in various formats is a goal.
My students are African-American and need to engulf themselves in academic experiences that are a reflection of them. The literature books requested are on my students' level, providing opportunities to research information on important African Americans independently.
When students are able to interact with a great literature books it is a nice extension to create an art project that reflects what is read.
I try to integrate my subjects across all disciplines of the curriculum. My students will enjoy using the varied construction paper, folders, and markers that I requested to create projects in class that extend on our learning in Math and Literature.
