Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special ed teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district where my students are faced with several challenges because of their academic and emotional disabilities, both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
The students in my classroom are students with learning and emotional disabilities.
They like to move, they want to learn how to read and how to visually see math problems come alive! From the minute they get to school and as they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential, emotions, and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire my students.
My Project
As a special education teacher, I am not allowed to request school supplies from my students. My classroom is a teacher-funded school supplies classroom. Not only do my students need crayons and scissors in my classroom, but they also ask me for supplies when their supplies run out in their regular ed classroom. My students work hard each and every day. They need good pencils, pens, dry erase markers, Post-its, and erasers, to help them do their classwork. These supplies are great quality, and I am hoping they last us through the school year. Please consider helping us, and my students and I will be forever thankful!
