This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a district serving a high number of economically disadvantaged children, I know my students struggle with basic skills. They struggle not from a lack of knowledge, but from a lack of experience.
Knowledge is power.
Students are strengthened through engaging lessons and hands-on learning. Regardless of their economic background, I want every student to know they are and can be greater than their current situation. Students should not feel limited because of their demographics, but empowered by their abilities. I want my students to be involved in the learning process.
My Project
We need basic classroom supplies to assist with our day to day learning goals. My students need journals, pencils, scissors and crayons for daily classroom assignments. Journals will be used as our daily morning writing activity as we learn to build structure and grammar. Scissors, crayons and pencils will be needed as we cut, create and design fun academic projects.
These basic supplies will help our classroom community work independently with materials needed for daily learning.
Journals, pencils, crayons, and scissors are just a few of the items needed to help my students with daily task to build independence without being singled out students in need.
