I teach 5th Grade in a working-class neighborhood of a large city. During one part of the day, I teach an academically gifted group in language arts and math. Another part of my day is spent teaching a heterogeneous group of students in science. In all, I teach over 30 different students each day.
This is my first year here at this school. Unfortunately, my classroom was nearly bare. Thanks to some kind donors, we have been funded for a new table to use when we meet for book clubs. My classroom is very basic, consisting of student desks, chairs, a large table, and a bookshelf. This isn't nearly enough storage for our classroom library. I do not have a screen for the overhead projector, so I have to use the whiteboard at the front of the room to project images.
We desperately need more storage for our classroom library books. I am quickly buying more books and we have run out of room on our bookshelf. We are starting to stack them on the top. We also could use an easel for sharing ideas, charts, and books for display. We would not have to worry about using the overhead projector on the whiteboard as we would now have an alternative place to write.
By donating to this project, you would make it possible for my students to have an organized area to work in. They love to read and sort our library books. You can ensure that have a place to store them. Your help will allow us to have a new place to display and share all of our wonderful ideas with each other. We have the space and would like to fill it with some much needed basic items. Please consider helping us.
