My Students

My students are enthusiastic and inquisitive second grade scholars from rural West Virginia. They attend a Title I school where 100 percent of students receive free lunch. My students have learned that attitude, diligence and resourcefulness are critical in overcoming barriers that they may face.

Resources and funds that are essential for success are limited, but the hopefulness and desire present in each of my little intellectuals is abundant.

It is a priority that I am able to maintain a healthy, safe, and engaging environment that fosters a love for learning. These students work hard and are empowered by the desire and willingness to succeed. It is my hope that these critical life skills will prepare them for a better future not only in my classroom, but for life!

My Project

A request for things like paper, pens and ink seem so basic, but the need is critical and so very important. As you know, education is a foundation for success. If you are a mechanic, a doctor, a homemaker or anything in between; it is imperative that you are able to read and write. Research shows that improving a student's writing ability directly increases their reading comprehension level. These two skills and their level of mastery will directly impact and determine their success throughout their lives. It is my hope that with your generous donation of these basic supplies; I will be able to inspire improved readers and superior writers.

The ability to read and write and to do it well, ultimately, unlocks opportunities in various stages of a student's life.

Providing my students with pens, paper and ink will allow them the chance to create, write and print documents that showcase their ability and skills that they are developing and practicing in our classroom.
