Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are just beginning to get excited about the non-fiction literature they are reading. Often they do not have the organizational skills to keep their materials together so they are often discouraged even though they are reading the material.
My students are economically disadvantaged in a highly populated area.
Our school is a small school compared to those nearby and so our students sometimes feel left out. I am excited that my students are reading these complicated novels, but I would like them to have a place to store their work so it does not get lost.
My Project
My students would use these post-it notes, file folders and folders to help organize and store all of the work they are completing while reading their non-fiction books. They will then have access to all their work when the reading of the book has concluded and be able to use all these materials when creating their final project. The colored pencils and poster board will be used to present their book to the rest of the class and their parents.
Donations to this project will impact my students and their families immensely.
My students will be able to share what they have been learning with other students and their families in a non-threatening way.
