My students need basic school supplies in order to learn. Some students come to school with no, or not enough, pencils and erasers. This distracts them and other students from learning as they ask to borrow.
The beauty of working in an extremely diverse school is getting to learn about different cultures and work with a melting pot of students. When every student in my class comes together, they are always learning from each other. Also, being in an emergent classroom, with 3/4 of them as an ELL, it helps me appreciate them even more. My students teach each other how to say something in their language everyday. They help everyone feel special even though they are not verbal about it.
My Project
Often times I notice students are distracted because they want to sharpen their pencils or look around in their desk for pencils and erasers. With the basic needs of pencils, erasers and glue sticks, students will not need to bother other students to borrow pencils or an eraser.
Colorful pens will help with editing of student work and make it easier for students to distinguish and pick up.
Stickers are a great small incentive to help students get motivated in their learning and make it more fun for them. Please help support in helping me fund this project to help my third grade students have a more successful year.
