Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in Springfield, a city in Western Massachusetts. Our school serves a diverse group of learners that require varying needs. Many of my students come from low income homes and lack the necessary materials for completing school work at home.
At this time I am unable to access basic classroom materials for my students.
Our district has done a wonderful job of rolling out laptops to individual students so we can still remain in constant contact. However, I would like to give my students the opportunity to work on creative projects at home that do not require the use of a computer.
My Project
It has come to my attention that many of my students do not have basic school supplies necessary to complete school assignments at home during this scary and overwhelming time. Our district has provided students with their school laptops, and our local cable company has done a great job providing internet to low income homes with school aged children for free.
In an effort to limit screen time for my students, I have created fun and creative math projects for them to complete.
Many have reached out that they cannot complete these projects because they lack the material. I am asking for help in securing these products that I will deliver to my student's homes.
