This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in an underprivileged school district where all students receive free and reduced-price lunches. My students are happy, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. They love to listen to stories, work hands on with manipulatives, and learn/work on their Chromebooks.
My Project
The donations to this project will give the students the ability to work hands on with the teacher as well as independently resulting in proficiency/mastery in alphabet recognition/sounds/words/writing, and math sense including: identifying numbers 1-20; counting; comparing numbers; ordering numbers; and sorting. Having the actual tools available to for each student at this age is paramount in building a strong foundation in literacy and math. With each student having the same learning tools, it will be easier to plan engaging lessons, students will be more engaged, and there will be more on-line class participation.
