This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the privilege of teaching a truly gifted group of 3rd through 6th graders. They have already established a love for learning with technology and hands on activities. My mission is to challenge their thinking and create a collaborative group of scholars who can solve tomorrow's issues.
My students are extremely motivated and creative, but sometimes lack the basic materials they need.
We are a Title I School in the inner city of Miami. We have a very diverse population and students come to school with many challenges. I want them to feel pride in themselves and their classroom. Please help me give my students the tools needed to excel.
My Project
Our classroom needs copy paper, glue sticks, an electric pencil sharpener, and highlighters. These items will be used to create our interactive Science notebooks. I also teach a 6TH grade U.S. History class and we need maps in order to reference what they are learning. These necessary classroom items are always in short supply. Having quality supplies can boost students' achievement and sense of pride.
Something as simple as having a sharp, new pencil or highlighters that are full of ink can bring a smile to a child's face.
If you were lucky enough to get new school supplies as a kid, try to remember how excited you probably felt. Many of our families can not afford to give their children these items.
The new year brings new and fun projects to keep kids interested in learning. Our supplies are starting to run low already and we are looking to get some needed items to replenish our supplies.
