Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently teaching at a Title I school in a low socioeconomic neighborhood where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. This school year, I have twenty-five second/third grade English language learners students. Most of my students come from Central America and Mexico. For most of my students, English is their third language. My students vary in ability, background and learning styles. It is this diversity that makes my class a special place to be.
My students walk into the classroom with enthusiasm to learn and regardless of the obstacles they may face at home, come to school eager to learn something new every day.
They know that through hard work and perseverance they can rise to any challenge.
My Project
Basic school supplies are an everyday need in the classroom. I am asking for items such as Ticonderoga pencils, paper, envelopes, Elmer's glue sticks, and binders for daily use and projects in the classroom.
These basic supplies are invaluable to the classroom setting and are necessary for successful learning.
We enjoy doing writing projects, art projects, math and phonic games. To create math and phonics games we use envelopes. All of these activities require supplies such as pencils, paper, glue sticks, pocket envelopes, and binders.
By funding this project you would be making sure my students have some of the basic materials in the classroom that they need.
