Although several of our students come from various homes, they are some of the hardest working, intellectual students you will meet. Our students are faced with challenges every day, but they do not allow such challenges to defeat their purposes in life. All students in our school receive free lunch and breakfast due to their socioeconomic status. In addition, several of our students either live in single-parent homes, foster homes, or relative placements. Although these attributes typically prevent students from doing their best, our students rise above the trials they face.
Excellence is the only way for our students, and they prove their desire for success daily at school.
Despite the challenges they face, one goal as their teacher is to offer them hands-on, meaningful learning experiences. Our students are fearless, adventurous, and determined. They enjoy helping others; learning about new ideas, cultures, and places; and spreading awareness to the world about what they learn. They come ready to learn each day and look forward to the knowledge they obtain through rigorous lessons and activities. Although their home lives are beyond our control, we are hopeful that we can inspire them to become successful adults.
Special needs in my classroom include, but definitely are not limited to, hearing and speech impediments, language barriers, deficiency in written and oral expression, as well as others. Although I teach many students with special needs, the vast majority of my students have not been found to have special needs. However, I view all students as special, and do my best to help meet each student's needs.
My students are comprised of individuals with various abilities and disabilities, and it is my job as the teacher to ensure that I reach every student based upon their individual needs.
Index cards, posters, and writing utensils will help to bring learning to life as it will give the students visual aids to help them to remember what they learn. Scissors, glue and coloring utensils will help to give students understanding through a hands-on approach to learning. Motivational stickers will be given as needed to help to encourage my students to keep pressing on when they doubt themselves. These items will prove to be very beneficial in our classroom this year. Thank you so very much for your help in advance.
