Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is full of students with roots around the globe. They work hard daily to learn reading and math curriculum, and the majority of my students are also learning to speak English. The materials I have requested for this project will help them to make a connection to the changing world of technology around them.
My class is full of excited first graders.
My students come from an economically depressed urban community and various cultural backgrounds. I have students from 5 different countries, and 90% of my class is learning English as a second language. These students work hard and overcome much in their lives and learning.
My Project
My students will use their new composition journal made just for first graders! The LakeShore primary journal is made for first grade students to be able to draw and write as they become better writers. My students will spend the last 15 minutes of each day writing and reflecting on their learning.
The timer and magnetic base ten blocks will be a great visual that we will use all year long!
The base ten blocks will hang on the board and help us to keep track of every day that we are in school. The timer will be used to help us keep track of recess breaks and rotations throughout the day.
