My Students

My classroom thrives because of our diverse student population. Inside the art room we are able to use art as a platform to explore different cultures and narratives. Students learn to analyze and respectfully critique one another’s work as a way to learn about one another and question their own preconceived ideas.

I am most excited when I see my students making connections between art and life, or when they discover the relationship between art and history, math, literature and the sciences.

My Project

Our high school art program is in need of basic art supplies to finish out the school year. We need paint, canvas, paper, adhesives, and pencils to ensure that our art show in May is a success.

Some of the art projects we will be able to create with these materials are historically influenced playing cards, mixed media sculptures, and self portrait studies.

In May, students will collaboratively organize the district art show to display their works of art for the community. These basic art materials will afford us the opportunity to create and display artworks at the high school level.
