My students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are an extrmely culturally diverse school. My school is a high needs school, with most of our students qualifying for free lunch/ breakfast. Some of our students are raised by single parents and live in shelters or group homes. These children have never had an art teacher before and are so eager to learn and explore the world of art.
These children are so excited to have art class for the first time in their lives.
I want to give them the experience that they deserve.
My Project
This is the first year these children are experiencing art class with an art teacher. However, the school does not have basic supplies such as makrers, glue and paint for students to use. My students are so talented and so excited to finally have art class. these materials will allow for a well rounded curriculum and give students exposure to different supplies.
Supplies such as paint, markers, and glue sticks will be used throughout the year for different projects.
Right now, we don't have the supplies needed to complete our painting unit. Tempera cakes will allow us to engage in different lessons using paint. As a teacher doing "art on a cart", the chosen supplies make it easier for transporting around the school building.
