My students are a very diverse group. We live in a high tourist area that bring in students from all over the continent and world. Most students were not born and raised in the area. My students are very hard workers, many of my students have jobs on top of trying to keep grades up in school.
We have had a tough start to our year due to the hurricane and flooding in the area.
The natural disaster forced us to be out of school for almost a month and some students and staff at our school are still trying to recover from this.
No matter what issues these students have, they all love the art room and to create. My students inspire me,
My Project
Our art room is running low on basic supplies needed to finish out the semester and year. We had a rough start to school due to flooding caused by hurricane Florence. Now things are getting back to normal but our art room is still in need of supplies. With these supplies, glue, watercolors, ink and embroidery floss my students can learn to create paper mache, fiber arts by creating an embroidery art project and learn to draw using ink. These are all projects my students are highly interested in creating but due to lack of funding we will not be able to. All of these projects are unique ways we will be able to learn our visual arts standards.
