Bases and Floor Markers for Middle School Students
Help me give my students the ability to play kickball, baseball, and softball with real bases instead of cones and indoor floor markers to set up stations for easy organization and clarity.
Students at our middle school come from diverse backgrounds and reflect the diversity that we see in Anchorage. The students are able to participate in Physical Education daily for 6th and 7th grade and then for one semester of 8th grade.
We are lucky to have wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces with a running track and turf field.
However, some of our equipment is aging and needs replacement in order for students to use it. Having quality equipment is a way to signal to the students that they need to take care of what they have.
My Project
Right now our school doesn't have a complete set of bases to play kickball, baseball, or softball. We have about nine poly spots as indoor floor markers. This is not enough to be able to set up games or stations for our students using anything other than cones with labels taped to them.
Students will be able to play games with the correct equipment for the game and floor spots will be clearer markers for students to read.
This will also allow for safety so that students aren't tripping on cones. Additionally, it will be clearer when a student is safely on base. This equipment will allow us to play games and create fitness stations that are clearly marked and easy to understand.
