My Students

Our students are 11th and 12th graders with a passion for baseball who are looking forward to the opportunity to travel south with hopes of weather more favorable for outdoor play than the typical spring-time weather we have in our area. Our students attend a large-size rural high school in Western NY that serves approximately 1300 students. They are a nice group of young men with a variety of academic and athletic interests. These young men have interests outside of school as well- many of them hold part time jobs and complete community service on a regular basis. They come from involved families who have done fund-raising to help with the burden of the costs of a Spring training trip. Getting a chance to play outside will help prepare our students for competing when they return from the trip.

My Project

This trip will give our baseball players the opportunity to get outside for outdoor practices and games, which we usually don't get to do so early in our season due to weather. The players will get a chance to get out of the gym to play in the fresh air of Washington DC. They will get to travel to a city most of them have never been to before. There will be opportunities for team bonding as well as preparing for the regular season upon their return. This trip will allow them to create memories that will last a lifetime.
