My students need positive behavior wristbands as a visual reminder of the character words that our school emphasizes. We want to spotlight those students who demonstrate the behaviors that promote a positive environment conducive for learning.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students and primarily from low income families. Some are from extreme poverty situations and are homeless. Many are learning English as a second language. Often times, our students lack exposure to the meaningful experiences that other students receive. Some of our students have difficulty focusing on academics, and don't always demonstrate their abilities.

To maximize the success of our students, our school is working to increase attendance and reduce disruptions to learning.

We are in our second year of implementation of P.B.I.S. (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support)

My Project

We wish to be able to present a wristband to students who make good choices. They will be given out as an incentive to students who are caught doing something that exemplifies the character traits we are focusing on at our school. We would like to give them something very visual to keep the character traits vocabulary and positive focus in the forefront. This is our second year of implementation of this focus and we want to reignite the excitement the students and staff had initially. The students would receive one of 4 bands that display a character trait and our school's mascot and motto. Each of the 4 bands will be a different color, which will make the specific character trait easily identifiable. We hope to get the students and teachers "buzzing" about positive behavior.
