Help me give my students more of the essentials for band! We are missing many things that would be helpful to have, such as saxophone reeds, storage for instrument parts, and instrument maintenance kits!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school, and most of our students come from low income homes. These students enjoy moving around, being able to ask questions, and being rewarded for the good work they do. They also enjoy seeing the outcome of their hard work.
Many of the students at my school are very wonderful and curious children who want to investigate the world around them.
As a member of the school's leadership team, I want to provide resources and rewards for students who are actively and appropriately engaging in school events around them.
My students absolutely love to be rewarded for their hard work; small rewards lead to big rewards! Providing incentives and multiple resources for different kinds of work lets these students know they are on the right track and that they are appreciated.
My Project
As a very young and new band, we are rebuilding our program. The band currently has 38 students from 6th to 12th grade. We are missing many of the essentials, and it is difficult to run a program without some of these things.
The students in my middle/high school will benefit from these materials by allowing for more of our instruments to be utilized and repaired.
They are very driven to put on good shows for our fellow schoolmates, and this will help a lot with reaching our goal! The band room also needs decorating for music-related items, which is what a lot of the tape and sticky tack will help with.
