My students are 7th and 8th graders at a public middle school in Southern California. The school receives Title I funding, and over 80% of the school population is below the poverty level. Many of their families cannot afford to provide basic instrument supplies like reeds and oils.
My students love to play music and are so excited when people donate to our school so that they can play.
It's so exciting for them to see that the community cares about them enough to donate and help them out!
This project will purchase saxophone, bassoon, and clarinet reeds for my reed playing band students and new mallets and beaters for my percussion students.
These are supplies that we need in class every day so students can continue to participate and learn in my class.
The reeds include a variety of thicknesses for clarinets so the students can improve and develop their tone, as well as reeds for bassoon and baritone sax. We also need yarn and rubber mallets for my percussion students.
Keeping students engaged and playing in class every day will help them to achieve and do their best in our music classes.
