My Students

Our schools has a high poverty rate, and often my students are coming to school with limited background experiences and resources. My caseload is ever-changing as students move in and out of district and as I evaluate new students with significant deficits. The students that I work with have a wide range of abilities and needs. My students come to school ready to work each day and strive to do their best, despite the learning and/or behavioral challenges that they face. They make me proud every day because of the effort they put into their learning and also for being the caring and positive students that they are.

My Project

In my schools, I have many students who would like to learn an instrument but cannot afford to buy or pay monthly to rent one. By providing instruments for these students, you would be giving them the privilege of learning a new skill and enriching their lives with music. Getting those band instruments will foster growth in our music program as well as expand and balance our band. My students are eager to learn an instrument and be part of the band. Learning an instrument teaches students to work as a team as well as take responsibility for their own learning.
