This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach middle and high school band in a high-needs community. The school district is very small and in an urban setting. Our students all receive free lunch and breakfast. Even though the school and community have financial difficulties, my students come to school eager and ready to learn. The financial hardships do not interfere with their desire to learn and be the best they can be.
I am very fortunate to teach in a district where the students want to excel and work very hard.
My Project
I am the director of the marching band at my school. We have a week of band camp rehearsals in August to prepare for the football season. At the end of the week we like to celebrate our accomplishments with a special lunch.
My students work so hard during band camp, I would like to reward them with a special catered lunch.
I am requesting a catered lunch from Olivia's. Olivia's is a catering business in our community that makes delicious food. The band will celebrate the end of band camp with salad, pasta, meatballs, bread and cookies.
My students love marching band. It's a wonderful group of students who have developed great friendships while expressing their musical talents. With your help, we will be able to celebrate the end of camp with this delicious meal.
