This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My band classes are fundamentally based and music literacy is tremendously encouraged. My goal is to have my students acquire adequate sight-reading skills at their respective levels by the end of the year. This project will provide the added resources needed to achieve our goal.
My band classes consist of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.
I consider them to be some of the best students in the school. They report one hour early every morning to participate in our daily rehearsal/tutorial sessions. Our school is comprised of eighty percent free and reduced price lunch. Our total enrollment is approximately 700 students.
My Project
Through your kind donation my students will be ale to receive more consistent daily instruction. My students need band method books to be kept as class sets so that they are not lost or misplaced when taken out of the band room. This will also enable us to achieve more sectional rehearsals using the provided interactive software. The students are always eager to play along with the recordings included in the method books.
More often than not I have students sitting without a method book and missing out on a great opportunity to discover important new concepts covered in band class.
Having more pedagogical resources will provide that added incentive for more band students to affectively participate and apply themselves in class.
