The students at my school are from a rural, farm community. We have a small school at the edge of a large corporation. Our students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We are lucky to have great families that work hard and are involved in our school events, but we don't get a lot of extra funding from the state. This is due to our school not qualifying as a Title I school, which are schools who have a higher level of free and reduced-price lunches than we currently have.
My sweet kiddos are hard workers, but have lots of extra energy and thrive during hands-on activities.
We try to keep moving around our classroom several times throughout day to help with this. I also have tried to incorporate a flexible seating environment to keep their little bodies wiggling while engaged in learning while at our seats. We have had a lot of success when we use hands-on manipulatives and activities. I love to provide learning opportunities that will get my students moving, thinking, and stimulating their learning by creating! What better way to keep kids moving then by adding more resources for recess!
Recess is a time for kids to play, cut loose, and get the wiggles out, so they can reboot for their afternoon learning! Our whole school would really benefit from new recess items such as, basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, volley balls, jump ropes, frisbees, and many other outside activity items to help them enjoy their outdoor recess time.
Recess time is limited, so we need to provide as many resources as we can for kids to have fun and burn off their extra energy!
When these items are used daily they quickly wear down, so we need to refresh these tools at our school. We are requesting lots of options as well to provide as many different opportunities as we can to allow all the kids to have fun while enjoying and playing with their item of choice!
These resources will be used each day by all of the students at our school!
