Balls Instead Of Chairs?

My students need 30 ball chairs instead of regular chairs to help with hyperactivity and posture.

Are you slouching right now? Are you able to sit still?

Students of all kinds are by nature very active.

They learn best with movement and just like adults, they tend to slouch when sitting on regular chairs and cannot sit still! The title I school cannot afford ball chairs even though research shows that EXERCISE, POSTURE, and HYPERACTIVITY can be under control with the use of such chairs! Why didn't they have these when I was a kid?

My Project

Many children and adults today are overweight, and childhood obesity is a growing problem around the world. Sitting on a ball chair requires muscle movement that sitting in a regular chair does not. Students need to balance their legs, thighs and feet to keep the chair from rolling across the room, and therefore they are using more muscles as they sit in these types of chairs. Therefore, introducing ball chairs into a classroom promotes more muscle use and movement. Also, it helps with slouching and poor posture because they have to balance. It even helps with hyperactivity because it allows the hyperactive part of their brains to focus on the ball. Instead of being distracted by other things, the student's brain is occupied by the ball chair, leaving him or her free to concentrate on other tasks, especially academic studies.

This project will definitely make a difference and will act as a model classroom connecting health with learning!
