Hello donors! I am a special education teacher in a blended and co-taught preschool classroom. Our classroom is in a public school located on the lower west side of Chicago. This is my students' first time in school!
I teach 3-year-olds who have special needs.
The curriculum that I use is play-based and requires a lot of materials for each study and center! Each center in the classroom needs materials that will allow students to develop social, motor, language and academic skills. I try and provide students with new materials that challenge their play and social learning.
My students love balls! We use balls to explore science, math, literacy, and arts. We need books about balls for independent and whole group read aloud!
In my preschool classroom I teach my students to have a love of books and reading.
It is important to provide them with books on many different subjects and that relate to our focus of the month. This requires an extensive classroom library that I want to provide for my students.
In preschool students use books to develop many skills. Students share books with friends and take turns turning pages. This helps to develop social skills. Students talk about what they see in pictures to help develop verbal skills and label items. Verbal skills are so important to preschoolers who are learning to talk to each other and to teachers!
