My students are energetic, enthusiastic, and have increasingly grown to be independent and empathetic learners. They make me proud every day. We have a strong moral focus in the classroom, teaching and learning the growth mindset and also an intense focus on empathy and kindness. In our class, we have a huge spectrum of children with diverse abilities. Despite our differences, which we have learned to make us unique and special, the students use this to help one another and thrive as a classroom family. Our classroom is a comfortable and joyous place to be and to learn.
My Project
I have used alternative seating in many forms for many years now. My current set of yoga ball chairs were spontaneously donated by parents, family, friends, and even some strangers about 6 years ago.
The current chairs in my classroom have received SO much love from countless 2nd graders since then.
They are all showing wear and tear, some have perished, and the rest is pretty grimy and beyond cleaning any further.
After a long spring separation due to COVID, it would be the BEST feeling to supply my class with brand new chairs upon return to school. The chairs have been such a valuable resource over the years, offering an outlet to children who struggle with focus and children who just need to move! Thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity!
